When are crowns helpful?

Crowns are used to restore and reinforce fractured tooth structure and provide protection from further damage. They are also often placed after root canal therapy. Although a crown can be placed on any tooth, they are most commonly used to restore canine teeth, and upper and lower carnassial (chewing) teeth.
