If a pet is experiencing a dental or medical problem that could be related to oral disease, please call us for a consultation or to make an appointment for an oral exam. Remember that pets should have an oral exam every 6-12 months.

 

Common Signs of Oral Disease:

 

  • Bad breath—one of the first signs of dental disease

  • A yellow or brown buildup of plaque on the teeth

  • Red and swollen gums

  • Broken or discolored teeth

  • Rubbing or pawing at the face

  • Change in temperament

  • Weight loss

  • Teeth out of alignment from others

  • Decreased appetite or difficulty eating—especially in cats

  • Pain or bleeding when pet eats or finding blood on chew toys

  • Nothing – unfortunately the most common
